The Guardian’s Playlist & The Devil’s Playlist Temporarily Out of Print

Hello followers and fans of The Guardian’s Playlist Trilogy!  Beginning March 6, 2017 until Fall/Christmas 2017, I will be removing The Guardian’s Playlist and The Devil’s Playlist from both digital and print distribution.  As I’ve worked on The Playlist Trilogy’s final novel, I’ve reflected back over all I’ve learned about the publishing and marketing process.  I’ve spent years now studying my novel’s genre (Paranormal Fantasy/Young Adult Literature).  I’ve learned about the different elements and design techniques that are used by professional cover designers to communicate that genre to potential readers and have come to the conclusion that the current covers, although gorgeous, do not accurately reflect The Guardian’s Playlist and The Devil’s Playlist subject and feel.  This is especially true when you consider that the way readers choose their books has changed drastically in the last six years.  Not that long ago, many books were still chosen and purchased in stores.  Now, most books are bought and/or downloaded online.  A cover has, on average, two seconds to grab a reader’s attention, and often must do that within the tiny space of a thumbnail.

I’m excited to announce I’ve chosen a new book cover designer team and am very excited about their talent and ideas!

Lyric Changes:

In addition, due to the tremendous difficulty and expense of licensing the lyrics that are used in the novel, I will be rewriting most of the lyrics with the help of a talented friend of mine.  When The Guardian’s Playlist and The Devil’s Playlist are re-released next Fall, the stories will be the same, but the music and art will be entirely new.

I hope you will all stay tuned for cover reveals and updates on this process.  I know I can’t wait for the finished product.

In the meantime, I’m hard at work on the final book in the trilogy and will be announcing the title soon.  Thank you all for your enthusiastic support!

LASTLY, I do have a number of current print editions of both THE GUARDIAN’S PLAYLIST & THE DEVIL’S PLAYLIST.  I am willing to provide them to book clubs, schools, libraries and reviewers for FREE.  If you are interested, contact me at jpowellogden@gmail.com.   I only ask for a small donation to cover the cost of mailing.

Let Go of Your Shame Revisited

Loadfields”

I picked this song tonight because it talks about something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. We’ve all felt it.  Shame.  But the only way to be free, to heal, to be what we’re meant to be is to let it go.  And what we are meant to be is happy.  We are meant to love and be loved.  And no one on this planet, I don’t care what authority they use to justify their position, has the right to make you feel ashamed.  You’re beautiful right where you are in your own journey.

ing o One Republic’s “Preacher”

Rather than list my goals for the coming year, I thought I’d reflect on the most important lesson I learned this year.

I have long envied some of my friends, strong in their faith, who are able to weather the most difficult storms in life with grace, strength, and optimism.  When I offer my sympathies they respond with a smile and say they have “turned it over” to their Higher Power.  They possess a certain peace that I can only dream of.

“How do you do that?” I ask them.
